MISSION
African Economic Development Solutions (AEDS) builds economic, community, and social wealth in African immigrant communities in the United States by providing culturally grounded support and services to businesses, leaders, and collaborators.

OUR STORY
Established in 2008, African Economic Development Solutions (AEDS) began as a small group of immigrants determined to address the lack of business ownership among African immigrant communities in Minnesota. Recognizing the economic disparities and unique barriers these communities faced, the group committed to creating opportunities for financial growth and empowerment.

Over time, AEDS learned from business owners and entrepreneurs that language and cultural differences were among the most significant challenges. They also realized that building wealth was essential to empowering African immigrants. These insights inspired the creation of a business development organization centered on cultural intelligence and an asset-based model.

At AEDS, we believe that access to key resources, institutional frameworks, and supportive environments are essential for achieving financial success within marginalized communities. By addressing economic disparities, we provide programs such as small business development, micro-lending, homeownership education, and entrepreneurship support. These initiatives are designed to empower entrepreneurs, foster financial independence, and create vibrant, thriving communities.

Our organization assists African immigrants and other underrepresented groups in developing their potential and transforming their communities. Through entrepreneurship, homeownership, and wealth creation, we foster sustainable economic success in the diverse regions we serve.

In 2025, recognizing the need for culturally specific business development services across the country, AEDS expanded to Oregon. Our Oregon location builds on our legacy of supporting African immigrant-owned businesses and provides the technical assistance, resources, and cultural intelligence needed to thrive in a competitive environment.

AEDS is excited to grow alongside Oregon’s vibrant communities and remains committed to empowering individuals and families to achieve financial independence while contributing to the broader economy.
